My
ten days in a wintry Morocco was the first time I had travelled alone.
It was a bit of a shock as I considered myself a "world traveller" and I
wasn't prepared to be a woman, by myself, in a country where they are known
to hassle women. I also arrived during the holiday of .... one of the biggest Muslim festivals and after being launched into a packed train by two helpful Morroccans who were living in South Africa, I sat on the floor on the way to Marrakesh. By the end, I loved Morrocco, met up with a fantastic Canadian family who took me under their wing and could have stayed for much longer. Instead I crossed the Straits of Gibraltar, arrived in Spain and took a bus to Malaga where none other than a hairy headed Aussie in thongs and shorts was in the bus station waiting for me. Next morning we picked up another hairy Walpolian who had caught an overnight bus to meet up with Bo. Our little party was complete when we picked up Tracie who had missed her connection in Madrid, spent the night in a flash hotel, while we wandered a deserted airport wondering where on the earth she had got to. What a Spanish holiday we had! Freezing February weather, camping in the back of a truck where no one would let us park, and then spending the rest of the time in a mechanics workshop! But then that was what Bo had warned me of! Click on the link below
